Cruyff: Don’t Judge Enrique Now

Default
Barcelona legend, Johan Cruyff has defended Luis Enrique and praised Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti.
The man who coached Barcelona to their first European Cup has jumped to the defence of the club’s under fire manager, who has seen his team’s form drop ever since the El Clasico defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.
"We've only played eleven
games
,” the Dutchman told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We hit top form in the first seven or eight and our performances have dropped off somewhat since then. We have a new coach, new players and they logically still have to gel. You can't judge Luis Enrique after ten weeks in the job."
The 1974 World Cup runner-up continued to praise Pep Guardiola’s football intelligence before reserving words of praise for Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti.
"He (Guardiola) is intelligent enough, he played in midfield. You need a good head for football, much more than just good feet. I'm not at all surprised that he's a great coach," the 67-year-old added.
"Ancelotti has coached in four or five different countries, speaks four or five languages and has adapted to lots of different places. There are others who don't have that experience."
Cruyff played 143 times in La Liga for Barcelona in between 1973 and 1978, scoring 48 goals in the process.
